This 1930 Art Deco modernist clock originates from Belgium and is fashioned from blue glass, chrome, and mirrored glass. The circular timepiece displays silvered Art Deco typography with a mirrored glass dial, geometric hands, and a stepped circular blue glass base with a visible maker etching along the bottom edge. Foxing and mirror black spots are present primarily around the numerals and random areas, alongside minimal age-related marks on the chrome. The whole piece measures 30 cm high, 23 cm wide, and 8 cm deep. Suitable for a mantelpiece setting in a modern interior, the battery-operated clock functions as a striking decorative accessory. The reflective surfaces and blue colour scheme provide a strong visual accent on a shelf or tabletop. Maintenance involves simple dusting of the glass and metal components to preserve the existing finish.

Art Deco clocks from the 1930s are defined by geometric silhouettes, streamlined forms, and unconventional materials such as tinted mirrored glass, chromium plating, and bakelite. They reflected the periods interest in modern industrial aesthetics and bold typographical styling.

Craftsmen used heavy plate glass, coloured or silvered mirror panels, chrome-plated brass, and cast metal alloys. The movements were typically mechanical brass spring-driven mechanisms or early electric synchronised movements.

Authentic period examples generally display natural age marks on the mirror silvering, hand-bevelled glass edges, original movement components, and period-appropriate screws rather than modern synthetic fasteners or modern quartz conversions.

Position the piece on a neutral mantelpiece, sideboard, or executive desk where light can interact with the mirrored glass surface. Pair it with minimalist contemporary decor or dark wood furniture to allow the blue glass tone to stand out as a focal point.

Clean the mirrored glass with a lint-free microfibre cloth lightly dampened with water or specialized glass cleaner, taking care not to let moisture seep into the dial edges or movement. The internal mechanical movement should be serviced periodically by a professional horologist.
