This Edwardian ice bucket dates from around 1910 and takes a slim, tall form made from clear glass and silver plate. The vessel displays a cut glass geometric band around the top, delicate hand-engraved leaf patterns across the body, and a fitted silver-plated rim holding an upright swing handle. The glass is transparent and colourless, while the metal elements provide a reflective silver finish showing minor wear commensurate with age. Standing 21.6 cm high, 15.2 cm wide, and 15.2 cm deep, this piece serves practical functions on a dining table, home bar surface, or sideboard top for holding ice cubes during entertaining.

Glass ice pails fitted with electroplated silver rims and swing handles gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. They were designed as elegant table accessories for chilling ice during formal dinners and cocktail gatherings.

These items typically feature heavy blown or molded glass decorated with wheel-cut or etched patterns. The upper rim and flexible bail handle are usually made from silver-plated brass or electroplated nickel silver (EPNS).

Authentic period pieces show hand-finished details such as polished pontil marks on the glass base, precise wheel-cut engraving, and stamped manufacturer marks or makers initials on the silver-plated rim or handle.

Display the item on a dining room sideboard, drinks trolley, or bar cabinet alongside vintage decanters and crystal glassware to create an refined entertaining station.

Hand wash the glass interior with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Clean the silver-plated metalwork gently using a specialized silver polishing cloth, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals that could degrade the plating.
