~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
It is in the Baroque style and features a goddess mask to the front and mythical creatures to each side. It is profusely decorated with entwined foliage and surmounted by a large and elaborate urn. Candelabra have matching bases and 6 impressive branches of stylised foliage. The original snuffers sit in the middle nozzle as finials when not in use. This is a stunning, very large clock set with a superb original gild, impeccably restored in our own workshop, ready to display.
The large dial is enamel on copper with a gilt brass centre and is complete with original blued steel hands.
The French movement is of high quality and is by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some tiny nibbles next to the winding holes and some faint hairlines. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
