~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
A very decorative antique French gilt brass cartel wall clock by Samuel Marti. It is Rococo in style, asymmetric with acanthus shoulders and a large acanthus leaf top. Acanthus flowers hang below the dial. It is in stunning condition, finely modelled with good original gilding. The dial is cream with blue lettering and has a separate minute ring and convex glass.

The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
The dial is in good condition, there is a chip to the edge which is hidden by the bezel when shut and 2 hairlines, one between the 1 and 2 o'clock and one to the centre. This is a stunning wall clock, ready to display.

Samuel Marti clockmakers mark on the movement backplate along with the Paris retailers mark of Raison and Thomas of Maison Franjus - listed by Tardy as working from 1880.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
