~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
A simply stunning original antique French Rococo clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is of a good size, elegantly modelled in gilded brass in typical Rococo style. The case is waisted with fretted front that allows a glimpse of the pendulum swinging within. It is decorated with foliate and floral swags, 'C' scrolls and an elaborate urn to the top. Candelabra have bold bases, handled urns and four branches modelled as acanthus. This is a very decorative set, ready to display.

The dial is the most sought after cream enamel with blue lettering and separate minute ring. It has finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex glass fitted to the Rococo bezel.
The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers mark on the movement backplate.
Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a sonorous gong. Gong striking is very unusual in this type and style of clock. Click the video clip below to hear the gong and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some nibbles next to the winding holes. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.

Japy Freres 'Medaille D'Honneur' mark on the movement backplate.
Complete with pendulum and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
