Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pair of Art Deco table lamps, dating from 1940, provide a striking period lighting solution for the home. Each piece comprises a stepped pale green and white glass shade positioned atop a chrome gallery and a tapered wooden stem. The carved wooden base incorporates two darker lines of wood inset diagonally, resting securely on four square wooden feet. The lamps measure 49 cm high, 12.5 cm wide, and 12.5 cm deep. Such lighting sits comfortably upon a sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or hallway, supplying functional illumination alongside a distinct vintage aesthetic. The combination of green glass, brown timber, and shiny metal hardware creates a balanced composition suitable for period or eclectic interior schemes today.

FAQs

Art Deco lighting from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by bold geometric shapes, clean angular lines, stepped profiles, and materials such as chrome, press-moulded glass, and polished timber.

Lamps from this period frequently combined press-moulded or coloured glass shades with wooden stems, chrome gallery mounts, and weighted rectangular bases for stability.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct stepped or geometric shade profiles, original metal galleries with retaining screws, age-appropriate patination to wooden components, and historic wiring entry points.

Position the pair symmetrically on a sideboard, console table, or matching bedside tables to create visual balance and introduce structured geometric texture to modern or classic schemes.

Clean glass shades gently with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, avoiding harsh chemicals, and treat wooden bases with natural beeswax polish to maintain the timber finish.
