Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 20th century English traditional chandelier by Best & Lloyd is made of warm brass with six scrolling arms and white faux candle sockets. The central baluster column includes a ring finial, trumpet bobeche drip pans, and a reeded base with a ball terminal, suspended from an original chain and ceiling rose. The metal bears the clear maker's mark 'B&L' alongside the registered "Electrocuted Man" emblem, reflecting the period electrical fittings. The piece measures 63 cm high, 63 cm wide, and 63 cm deep. Suitable for hanging in an English country house interior, this fixture brings classic lighting to a dining room, hallway, or living space. It arrives fully rewired and PAT tested, complete with bulbs and ceiling fixings for immediate installation.

FAQs

English brass chandeliers from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries frequently feature baluster-turned central columns, s-scroll arms, and candle-style sockets inspired by traditional Dutch and Flemish metalwork.

These fixtures were predominantly cast in solid brass, with central elements lathe-turned and polished before being fitted with hollow or solid curved brass arms.

Authentic period pieces typically exhibit cast seam lines, hand-threaded screw connections, subtle hand-formed variations in arm alignment, and natural surface patination.

Suspending a traditional brass fixture above a modern dining table or within an entrance hall creates a balanced focal point by pairing historical metalwork with contemporary lines.

Dust the fixture regularly using a dry, lint-free cloth and avoid abrasive chemical polishes to protect the surface finish and prevent unwanted oxidation.
