Six Light French Ormolu Antique Chandelier

1900 - 1920
Description

A magnificent six-light French ormolu chandelier, richly ornamented and dressed throughout with an abundance of impressive crystal.

The chandelier is surmounted by a delicate open crown of finely cast ormolu arms, each supporting an unusual crystal drop. A tapered central stem descends to a bulbous, elaborately decorated finial, from which issue six sweeping leafy branches. Each branch terminates in a beautifully modelled leafy bobeche drip panfrom which hang substantial crystal bomb drops.

The chandelier is further enhanced by a large and highly decorative ormolu bowl forming the base, centred by an elegant Art Deco-style crystal. Dressed overall with large pear-shaped drops, the profusion of crystal catches and reflects the light beautifully, creating a wonderfully sparkling and richly decorative effect.

An exceptionally elegant and impressive example of French ormolu and crystal craftsmanship. c1920's. Restored, wired, pat tested and ready to hang.
