This Victorian revolving book stand measures 86.5 cm high, 40.5 cm wide, and 30.5 cm deep. The piece combines a polished brass wire rack featuring scrolling wire ends, a central vertical handle finial, and hoof design feet with a square oak tier set on a revolving tripod base. The top section contains four railed divisions for organizing books, while the lower support consists of three tubular brass uprights flowing into splayed tripod legs. In contemporary interiors, this functional accessory suits placement beside a sofa or within a gentleman's library setting for convenient book storage and access. The golden oak surface displays a rich warm brown timber grain with a moulded edge, complemented by the bright gold colour of the polished brass framework. The clean condition finish highlights the crisp metalwork and timber details across the entire revolving structure.

A Victorian revolving book stand is an late nineteenth-century piece of furniture designed to hold books or periodicals on a swivel mechanism, allowing easy access from a seated position in a library or study.

These pieces were typically constructed using solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, combined with cast or tubular brass framework and cast-iron weighting within the base for balance.

Authentic period pieces feature solid un-plated brass components, hand-cut slotted screws, natural age-related patination, and genuine timber grain rather than modern veneers or light alloys.

Position the stand alongside an armchair or sofa in a living area or reading nook to store art books, magazines, or tablet devices while adding contrast to contemporary furnishings.

Dust the wood surface regularly with a soft cloth and apply clear beeswax polish periodically. The brass can be lightly dusted to maintain its acquired patina or conditioned with specialised non-abrasive metal cleaner.
