This large French mantel clock originates from the Victorian period around 1880. Made from brass with a polished gold-coloured finish, the square case features rich relief carving and decorative corner spandrels, round handles projecting from the sides, and a domed top finished with a pointed finial. The circular dial displays a white enamel chapter ring with black Roman numerals enclosing ornate filigree brass work, original dark-coloured hands, and two winding holes. The structure is supported underneath by four scrolling, shaped bracket feet. Measuring 33 cm high, 22 cm wide, and 15 cm deep, the timepiece sits comfortably on a mantelpiece, a console table, or a desk in a sitting room or study, bringing traditional character and functional timekeeping to a modern interior.
