This clear lead crystal glass originates from the Georgian period in the nineteenth century, taking the form of a bucket bowl rummer. The blown vessel is decorated with a band of hobnail diamond cutting above horizontal prism rings on the upper bowl. Below, a short faceted knop stem supports the body, terminating in a conical foot featuring a radially cut edge and a polished out pontil mark at the centre. Age-related wear and tear is present on the rim of the foot. The piece measures 13.2 cm high, 8 cm wide, and 7.8 cm deep. It functions well as a decorative display item on a sideboard top in a dining room or living space, or for serving beverages during formal meals.

A rummer is a short-stemmed drinking glass featuring a broad bowl, which became widely used throughout the United Kingdom from the late 18th century into the 19th century. These vessels were primarily produced for serving spirits, toddies, ales, or wine in domestic and tavern settings.

Regency rummers were mouth-blown using heavy lead crystal, valued for its clarity and soft density. Skilled artisan glasscutters then applied geometric patterns, such as blazes, rings, and hobnail diamonds, using abrasive wheels cooled with water.

Authentic pieces from the Georgian and Regency eras display hand-cut irregularities, subtle foot wear, and a polished pontil mark on the underside. Lead content gives the glass substantial weight, clear resonance when tapped, and a faint greyish-purple hue under ultra-violet light.

Antique glassware can be styled on a dining sideboard, inside a glass-fronted display cabinet, or integrated into a contemporary home bar setup. Arranging cut glass pieces where daylight catches the faceted edges highlights the relief detailing.

Hand wash lead glass individually using lukewarm water and gentle washing-up liquid, avoiding extreme temperature shifts that cause thermal shock. Line the sink with a soft towel to guard against chipping, and dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.
