Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This tall pair of pedestal cupboards originates from 1910 in the Queen Anne Revival style, constructed from solid walnut with rich warm brown burr walnut veneers. Each piece has a bow fronted form with an elaborately carved scroll foot base, decorative mouldings along the top cornice, and brass drop handles fitted to the single top drawer above the lockable cupboard door. The pair measures 110 cm high, 60 cm wide, and 56 cm deep. These cupboards suit placement in a modern dining room, bedroom, or living room, where they work well as bedside tables or as lamp stands flanking a sofa. The fitted interiors provide concealed storage space, while the refined finish makes them ready for immediate placement in the home.

FAQs

Pedestal cupboards were historically used as bedside nightstands, pot cupboards, or dining room pedestals designed to store household objects and provide elevated surface space.

These cabinets are constructed using burr walnut veneer applied over a timber carcass, featuring decorative carved mouldings, dovetail drawer joints, and cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit dense swirl patterns from the root or burl of the walnut tree, accompanied by genuine age marks, wood grain variations, and solid timber backing rather than modern composition board.

Position them as symmetrical bedside tables beside a high headboard, place them in alcoves flanking a fireplace, or utilise them as standalone side storage in a living room or hallway.

Maintain burr walnut surfaces by dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, applying natural beeswax twice annually, and positioning away from direct sunlight or radiator heat.
