Silver and enamelled dressing table accessories gained immense popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly within the Edwardian and Art Deco eras, reflecting a cultural focus on personal grooming and dressing table elegance.

These items typically feature blown or pressed glass bodies paired with sterling silver mounts, often complemented by hand-applied enamel decoration, such as guilloche or painted floral motifs.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks on the silver mounts indicating the makers mark, assay office, standard mark, and date letter, alongside period-appropriate manufacturing techniques and wear patterns.

These small decorative objects work well when displayed on mirrored trays, dressing tables, or open bathroom shelving, adding a reflective metallic accent and historical texture to contemporary spaces.

Silver components should be cleaned gently with a specialised microfibre polishing cloth, taking care to avoid abrasive polishes that can damage the underlying metal or surrounding enamel work.
