Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Jacobean style oak stool dates from 1900 and exhibits a rich dark brown timber finish with a warm patina. Built with an unusual tri-form triangular top, the piece incorporates three heavily turned and fluted legs joined by a matching lower triangular stretcher base. Below the top edge, pierced apron carvings run between the corners, accented by small drop finials hanging from the corners. The frieze rails show applied mouldings that provide architectural depth, complemented by small turned spindle details at the top of each leg structure. Measuring 61 cm high, 48 cm wide and 48 cm deep, the proportions suit placement in an empty corner or beside a chair in a gentleman's library. The solid construction and compact footprint make the stool a practical occasional surface or display stand for a traditional home interior.

FAQs

Jacobean style furniture originates from seventeenth-century England and is defined by sturdy oak construction, dark finishes, intricate geometric carvings, and ornate turned legs or stretchers.

Traditional Jacobean revival pieces are crafted from solid oak using mortise and tenon joinery, featuring hand-turned baluster legs, carved aprons, and pegged joints designed for long-term durability.

Look for signs of age including natural wood grain wear, authentic pegged construction, subtle unevenness from hand-carving tools, and deep oxidisation in low-recessed areas of the woodwork.

A triangular stool fits neatly into unutilised corner spaces as a stand for ceramics or indoor plants, providing architectural interest and rich timber contrast against contemporary neutral walls.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
