The George V period spans from 1910 to 1936, characterised by a revival of historical styles such as Georgian and Regency, alongside the introduction of early modernist influences in British silver smithing.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, often formed using traditional methods such as spinning, casting for handles and feet, and hand-chasing or polishing to achieve a reflective finish.

Authentic pieces are identified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include the makers mark, the standard mark for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and the date letter corresponding to the specific year of manufacture.

Such pieces can be styled as functional tabletop accessories during dining or as decorative objects on a sideboard, contrasting polished metallic textures with contemporary ceramics or organic materials.

Sterling silver should be cleaned periodically using a non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to remove tarnish, and stored in a dry, tarnish-resistant environment away from direct sunlight and humidity.
