The Georgian period, spanning the reigns of the British Georges from 1714 to 1830, is characterised by classical proportions, meticulous craftsmanship, and refined ornamentation influenced by Palladian and neoclassical designs.

Georgian caddy spoons were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hallmarking stamps to indicate metal purity, makers marks, and the assay office of origin.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct hallmarks, hand-engraved detailing, natural age-related wear, and traditional construction methods such as hand-hammering or joint soldering rather than modern machine stamping.

Such small collectables are often displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on silver display trays, or integrated into traditional tablescapes alongside other antique tableware.

Antique silver requires gentle cleaning with a specialised non-abrasive silver polish and a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip desirable patination and engraving details.
