Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George III period, spanning from 1760 to 1820, is characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the predominant use of high-quality mahogany as global trade routes expanded.

Clothes presses from this era were typically constructed from solid timber frames with figured mahogany veneers on secondary woods like oak or pine, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints and solid brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails in the drawer linings, traditional timber shrinkage, historic patination, and original or period-replacement brass hardware without modern fixings.

A substantial wooden press functions effectively as a statement storage piece in a bedroom or hallway, contrasting clean modern walls with rich texture, historical depth, and natural wood grain.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and maintain the finish by applying natural beeswax periodically while avoiding synthetic polishes.
