Art Deco furniture from the 1930s typically features streamlined silhouettes, geometric forms, and often incorporates curved elements like dome tops while celebrating the natural grain of materials such as oak.

Wardrobes from this period were predominantly constructed using solid timber and quarter-sawn oak veneers over sturdy frames, utilising traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-specific construction details such as hand-cut dovetailing in internal drawers, original hardware, specific maker marks or labels, and natural ageing patinas on the timber.

A vintage oak wardrobe can serve as a statement focal point in a modern bedroom, contrasting effectively against minimalist white walls or paired with neutral textiles to highlight the warmth of the wood grain.

Preserve antique oak by keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and apply natural beeswax periodically to maintain the moisture and lustre of the wood.
