Victorian coloured glassware encompasses a vast array of decorative and utilitarian vessels produced during the 19th century, often utilising mineral oxides to achieve vibrant hues like emerald green, ruby red, and cobalt blue.

Items from this period were typically crafted from lead crystal or soda-lime glass, shaped using techniques such as free-blowing, mould-blowing, and intricate wheel-cutting or optical moulding to create surface textures like honeycomb patterns.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities, hand-finished stems, and natural wear patterns consistent with age, alongside specific weight and clarity characteristics typical of Victorian batch formulations.

Coloured glass stemware adds rich tones and textural contrast when displayed in open cabinets, utilised on dining tables for special occasions, or styled as decorative accents on sideboards and mantelpieces.

Antique glass should always be hand-washed in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to protect the delicate surface and any historical wear.
