Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large 1920s Italian breakfront bookcase adopts an 18th century walnut revival style with an architectural silhouette. The timber displays a warm brown finish across its moulded cornice, arched pediment, and fielded panelled lower cupboard doors. Above the cupboards, glazed open sections house multiple internal shelves backed in a pale cream fabric. Visible details include turned wooden structural columns, small rounded bracket feet, and simple dark metal hardware on the lower cabinets. Standing 250 cm high, 252 cm wide, and 21 cm deep, the unit provides substantial storage capacity for a grand study, a gentleman's library, or a formal living room. Books, decorative ceramics, and collections sit neatly on the open upper shelving, whilst the enclosed lower cabinets conceal larger household items out of sight.

FAQs

Inspired by 17th-century classical design, 1920s Italian Baroque Revival furniture features dramatic architectural proportions, arched apertures, heavy mouldings, and warm wood finishes such as walnut.

These large storage pieces were crafted using solid timber frameworks, walnut veneers, hand-fitted joinery, raised panel doors, and fitted internal shelving.

Look for period-appropriate joinery, authentic surface patination on the timber, architectural moulding profiles, and early 20th-century metal fittings.

Position the piece as an architectural focal point along a primary wall, contrasting its deep wood tones with neutral paintwork and streamlined contemporary furnishings.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft cloth, apply natural beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood, and position away from direct heat sources to avoid timber shrinkage.
