Silver wine labels, also known as bottle tickets or decanter tags, emerged in England during the mid-18th century to identify the contents of decanters on the dining table.

They are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often utilizing manufacturing techniques such as die-stamping, piercing, engraving, and cast applied borders.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining hallmark stamps, including the makers mark, lion passant for sterling silver, assay office mark, and date letter.

These small items can be displayed on vintage decanters upon a bar cart or styled within glass cabinet displays to add a touch of historical elegance.

Preservation requires regular gentle dusting, occasional cleaning with a specialized non-abrasive silver cloth, and storage in a low-humidity environment to prevent tarnish.
