Air twist glasses feature internal spiral channels of air trapped within the stem, a technique developed in England during the 18th century following the refinement of lead crystal production.

They were hand-blown using lead glass, where air bubbles were deliberately introduced into the molten metal and drawn out into spirals as the stem was stretched and twisted.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the foot, minor surface irregularities from hand-working, and a high-lead content ring when tapped gently.

Displaying the piece within a glass-fronted cabinet or on a sideboard allows light to pass through the clear crystal, highlighting the intricate internal spiral stem.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and never placing it in a dishwasher.
