We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The James II period spans the brief reign of King James II from 1685 to 1688, bridging late Jacobean styles and the emerging William and Mary aesthetic, characterised by robust construction and restrained ornamentation.

These pieces were constructed primarily from quarter-sawn English oak, utilising pegged mortise and tenon joints, hand-split panels, and wrought iron strap hinges and lock plates.

Authenticity is indicated by tool marks from adzes and pitsaws, historical shrinkage cracks, hand-forged ironwork, irregular dovetails or peg construction, and deep natural oxidisation known as patination.

An antique coffer functions effectively as a coffee table in a contemporary living space or as an end-of-bed storage trunk, contrasting tactile historical wood grains against minimalist surfaces.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels between forty and sixty percent, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the dry timber.
