Nineteenth-century French enamelled glassware, particularly from centres like Pantin and various Parisian workshops, is renowned for its rich coloured glass decorated with opaque white and gilded enamel motifs, often inspired by nature and historical revivals.

These pieces were typically crafted from blown or moulded glass, then hand-painted using high-firing enamel colours combined with gold leaf or metallic gilding to create raised, textured surface patterns.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-painted brushwork with slight irregularities, wear to the gilding consistent with age, polished pontil marks on the base, and period-appropriate metal mounts or hinges where applicable.

An antique glass trinket box can be placed on a dressing table, bedside surface, or open shelf to introduce a pop of historic colour and texture, serving as a functional container for small personal items.

Preserve these items by dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or submersion in water to protect the delicate surface enamel and fragile gilding.
