Description

A rare opportunity to acquire a Westminster-Chime wall clock by the World renowned maker GUSTAV BECKER.

A beautifully polished case with a full opening door which has bevelled glazing to the lower half through which the pendulum can be seen working.

An immaculate, silvered dial with black Arabic numerals and brass surround.

The clock strikes the Westminster-Chime on the quarters and the number of hours on the hour. Very importantly, it strikes on steel rods, giving a very crisp and resonating tone. It is fitted with a STRIKE/SILENT facility.

The 8 day movement has just been fully overhauled by our BHI horologist and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.

A real quality clock.

All cards accepted.

Why pay silly, inflated prices for a clock when you can get a perfect, guaranteed example from MASONS ANTIQUES.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century as a reaction against machine-produced items, emphasising traditional craftsmanship, hand-working, and the natural qualities of materials such as oak and brass.

These timepieces typically feature solid timber cases like oak or walnut, hand-assembled mechanical movements, brass dials, and glass panels, often incorporating joinery techniques that highlight the natural grain of the wood.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit maker stamps or serial numbers on the movement plate, hand-cut joinery, aged brass components, and wear consistent with age rather than artificial distress.

Mounting the piece on a neutral wall allows its traditional timber tones and mechanical elements to act as a focal point, contrasting effectively with minimalist or contemporary decor.

Regular professional servicing of the movement, keeping the clock away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, and careful handling during winding ensure longevity and accurate timekeeping.
