Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George V era, spanning from 1910 to 1936, saw a continuation of traditional neoclassical and revivalist motifs, often featuring clean lines alongside intricate chased or repousse ornamentation influenced by earlier Edwardian and Victorian styles.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, indicated by hallmarks that usually include the lion passant for sterling standard, a city mark for the assay office, a date letter for the year of manufacture, and the makers mark.

Authenticity is verified by examining the integrity and crispness of the official assay office hallmarks, checking for expected age-related wear such as minor surface scratches, and confirming traditional construction methods like soldered hinges and lined interiors.

An antique silver box adds a touch of historical refinement when placed on a dressing table, bedside surface, or coffee table as a functional container for small treasures or simply as a reflective decorative accent.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive specialist silver cloth to preserve the natural patina and avoid damaging delicate chased details or worn hallmarks, storing it in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
