Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts silver is identified by hand-wrought craftsmanship, simple geometric or organic forms, and planished surfaces. Metalworkers deliberately left hammer marks visible to emphasize manual creation over industrial mass production.

Spot-hammered silver pieces were hand-raised from sheet sterling silver and shaped using round-headed hammers. The repetitive striking created a faceted, light-reflecting surface pattern known as planishing or martele work.

Chester hallmarked silver displays a distinct town mark featuring a city shield with a dagger and three wheat sheaves. This is stamped alongside the sterling silver lion passant, makers initials, and a specific date letter.

An antique silver box can be styled on a vanity tray, bedside table, or bathroom counter. It provides functional storage for small items like rings, cufflinks, or daily jewellery while adding metallic texture to modern surfaces.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and clean periodically using a specialized silver polishing cloth. Avoid abrasive pastes or harsh chemicals that can strip natural age patination from recessed areas of hand-hammered metalwork.
