Designed in 1920 during the Art Deco period, this circular decorative bowl is a large, heavily reverse moulded shallow dish in butterscotch glass with a translucent amber finish. The piece features a relief motif of twelve detailed swirling fish radiating around the centre, complemented by a moulded rim. Three of the fish form the stand for the bowl, and the base displays a moulded R LALIQUE signature. The item measures 36.4 cm wide. Today, this decorative bowl serves as a striking display item for a sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or hallway. The vibrant amber colour, intricate relief fish design, and smooth translucent surface make it an eye-catching accent piece for collectors and interior enthusiasts alike. Its versatile circular form allows it to be showcased on open shelving, a display cabinet, or a central table, bringing a classic mid-century modernist aesthetic to contemporary residential interiors.

During the 1920s and 1930s, French glassmakers pioneered pressed and moulded glass techniques, producing decorative vessels adorned with stylized naturalistic motifs such as marine life, flora, and geometric patterns.

Artisans added metallic oxides to molten lead or demi-crystal glass to achieve shades such as amber or topaz, pressing the material into detailed moulds before finishing surfaces with acid-etching or hand-polishing.

Authentic period examples often feature molded or wheel-cut signatures, sharp relief detail, visible base wear consistent with age, and distinct optical clarity typical of early twentieth-century glass production.

Position the dish on a sideboard top, coffee table, or shallow shelf where natural light can filter through the translucent glass to emphasize the relief carving.

Clean gently by hand using warm water and non-abrasive liquid soap, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners and sudden temperature fluctuations that could induce thermal stress.
