A lovely pair of antique Georgian style burr walnut bedside chests. They were made in England, and date from around the 1930’s.

The quality is superb, they have a gorgeous design with serpentine shaped fronts, grooved canted front edges and cabriole legs with shell carving at the knees. The burr walnut grain patterns and colour tones are gorgeous, the tops are cross banded and the drawers have high quality brass handles. Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian design spans the reigns of the first four Georges, characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and an evolution from heavy walnut to lighter mahogany and exotic veneers.

These pieces typically utilise secondary softwoods like pine or oak for internal framing, faced with decorative hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or burr veneers, complemented by cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, hand-beaten timber variations, and subtle signs of age such as oxidation on brass handles and natural shrinkage cracks.

Pairing rich, figured wood tones with minimalist modern decor, neutral walls, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced contrast that highlights the natural grain without overwhelming the space.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and periodically applying a quality beeswax to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations.
