Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These bedside chests date from 1880 in an 18th-century style. Constructed from veneered burr walnut and walnut, they display a warm brown colour with distinctive figure patterns across the timber surfaces, finished with brass escutcheons and drop handles. Each cabinet features a serpentine front, a bombe profile, and small cabriole legs with detailed carving above a base moulding. Measuring 77.5 cm high, 77.5 cm wide, and 45.5 cm deep, these two pieces function as bedside chests to hold lamps, books, and night-time essentials in a bedroom. The matching pair provides balanced storage on either side of a bed within a traditional interior scheme.

FAQs

The Rococo bombe style originating in 18th-century Europe is characterised by outward-curving sides and front sections, ornate veneers, and fluid cabriole legs.

These pieces typically feature figured timber veneers such as burr walnut or kingwood laid over solid wood frames, accented with cast brass hardware.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints, book-matched timber veneers, hand-carved cabriole leg detailing, and natural wear patterns consistent with historical age.

Position them on either side of an upholstered bed frame to introduce warm wood tones and classical curves into a contemporary scheme.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources, wipe with a soft dry cloth, and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically to preserve the surface.
