Description

A very fine example of these ever popular and sought-after wall clocks.

The quality mahogany case has side opening inspection doors and a key-lockable door to the underside. It is beautifully polished with a deep , rich patina. It has a very narrow surround to the dial, which always enhances the overall elegance of this type of clock.

The light cream dial has black Roman numerals and black spade hands. The colour of the dial, when contrasted with the mahogany case and brass bezel really exemplify the true antique nature of the clock. It has a convex glass; again raising the it to a different level.

The 8 day, chain-driven, fusee movement has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered horologist and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.

Complete with original keys and ready to go straight to work.

All cards accepted.

A fusee is a conical pulley with a spiral groove around which a cord or chain is wound, connected to the mainspring barrel. This mechanism ensures that the force delivered to the gear train remains constant as the spring unwinds, providing superior timekeeping accuracy.

These clocks typically feature solid timber cases such as mahogany, oak, or rosewood, housing a brass bezel and a painted iron, wood, or paper-mache dial protected by convex glass.

Authenticity is determined by examining the quality of the hand-engraved movement plates, the presence of matching serial numbers on the movement and case, the wood aging characteristics, and traditional hand-cut joinery within the wooden drum case.

A classic dial clock serves as a striking focal point on a plain, neutral wall, bridging traditional craftsmanship with minimalist or industrial modern decor through its strong geometric circular form and rich wood tones.

A fusee clock should be professionally serviced every three to five years for cleaning and re-oiling of the movement. It must be mounted securely to a load-bearing wall and kept away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and high humidity.
