Shagreen Strut Clock

1900 - 1920
Description

A square framed art deco strut clock timepiece, with chinoiserie detail and shagreen dial. This stylish clock from the late 1920’s has a high quality french eight day movement regulated by and english lever platform escapement housed in a gilded and grained brass barrel, the back of the clock and the strut are also grained and gilded with a distinct witness mark on left hand side where the clock has been held to wind it throughout the last century. The gilded roman chapter ring sits in front of a green stained shagreen ground, the hands are beautifully pierces and gilded.
