Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A double corner cupboard is a two-tiered, triangular-backed storage cabinet designed to fit flush into the corner of a room. Popular throughout the 18th century, these pieces maximised interior spatial efficiency while displaying traditional woodworking through panelled doors and moulded cornices.

Historically, regional cabinetmakers utilised solid native hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or pine, frequently constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints, mortise and tenon frames, and wooden pegs. Finishes were often natural oil, wax, or lime washes to protect the timber grain.

Authentic period cupboards exhibit signs of hand-craftsmanship, including hand-sawn timber marks on non-visible back boards, original iron or brass hardware with age-appropriate patination, and subtle shrinkage to solid timber panels consistent with natural movement over time.

Position the piece in an underutilised corner of a dining room, hallway, or living space to add architectural interest and vertical dimension. Pair pale or limed wood finishes with neutral wall tones or muted heritage paints to complement the natural texture of the timber.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or liquid polishes. Apply a high-quality clear wax polish sparingly once a year to nourish the wood without dampening the distinctive limed texture.
