A Champlevé Repeating Carriage Clock Be E.maurice & Cie Paris

19th century
Description

A charming repeating carriage clock in champleve enamel case by one of the great Parisian makers. This eight day two train movement with an English lever platform escapement striking on a blued steel gong with silvered Arabic dial and gilded mask is housed in a gilded and enamelled case of larger than average proportions.

The eau de nil and lilac floral and foliate enamel work is of the highest quality in an appealing and surprisingly contemporary colour palette.

Made by E.MAurice & Cie in Paris in around 1890, this clock was produced by one of the great carriage clock makers of the 19th century. With workshops at 75 Rue Charlot Paris, E.MAurice produced some of the finest enamel clocks of the period of which this is fine example. Typical of the makers’ clocks is also the silver chapter with recessed plaques for the black arabic numerals.

This Clock is shown unserviced, but will be fully overhauled and comes with our 2 year guarantee at point of sale.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
