witchantiques.com has dated this Jacobean Oak Inlaid Dresser to the 1900s.
The upper section has three cupboards in-between the split, double mouldings and also incorporates a pair of niches. The cornice has a double break within it's design. The base is of a similar design, with three cupboards (one being a cellarette) and three drawers, all sat on eight turned feet which are interspaced with carved brackets. To the top of the cellarette cupboard is the makers name, which reads HAMPTONS, PALL MALL, LONDON. Whilst the French polish was being rejuvenated our restorer came across an envelope which contains numerous pieces from the previous owner which give a good idea of it's residence and a very interesting image of it's previous owner's lifestyle. Solid oak throughout and very heavy even though it splits into two halves.
