A Very Rare French Black Marble Month Running Brocot Calendar Regulator Clock 1870

19th century
Description

Hi

I have for sale a very rare 1870s French black Belgium solid marble clock made in France by the partnership of Achille Brocot and Delletrez which split with the death of Achille Brocot in 1874.

The clock contains some mega rare features as it is a genuine month-running clock with the full 28 escape wheel which travels in the opposite direction to the conventional 8-day versions and has an extra gear to ensure this operates so a balance correctly center seconds hand accompanies the workings.

The clock has a full perpetual calendar which includes the correction for leap years also the outside edge is the equation of time, to the opposite is a barometer with the mounted bourdon tube so no need for tapping it.

The movement is run via the Ellicott pendulum stamped with the maker's mark.

The clock also contains two thermometers one in Fahrenheit and the other in reaumar.

This clock is mega heavy the weight of a small car gearbox 35 kilos but simply beautiful you will never see another like it this is a pure one-off clock for the best collections in original condition and I also have a newspaper write-up on the clock to go with it.

The clock was serviced and gone through around five years ago and sitting in front of me ticking away.

The Case

The case is in solid shiny black marble, she stands 45cm high x 52cm wide with a depth of 16cm a really nice size important clock in very good original condition the photos do not do the clock any justice at all.

The back doors are the earliest type of Aluminium.

The Dials

The dials are in perfect condition and are in white porcelain the time face has Roman numerals and black moon hands all totally original to this clock, The dial is covered by a 3mil thick beveled glass and brass bezel.

The Movement

The movement is a month running time and strike which strikes the hours and halves on a silver bell real quality sound, this movement was serviced about 10 months ago and keeps a great time over the month and still retains the key and matching pendulum, it has an adjuster to set the hands below numeral six Never wind the manually.

Overall a very rare clock that looks great on display keeping a great time and looking even better this is a quality clock from an early age for the serious collector.

I will not post but will help with delivery or collection..
