A Small English Fusee, 5-Glass Library Timepiece Clock in a Satinwood Case by Francis Correll, Lutterworth. Circa 1835.

19th century
Description

This is a small and pretty mantel or table timepiece.

The 8 day duration, single chain fusee, 4 pillar movement with Anchor Recoil escapement, top micrometer regulation to the pendulum and a locking nut for transit.

Behind just a 3 3/4" square, silvered and engraved dial with an outer minute track and Roman hour numerals. The centre being signed "FRA(NSI)S CORRELL, LUTTERWORTH". The matching blued steel hands have spear shaped ends.

Contained in a satinwood '5-glass' case, the stepped top having a thick bevelled viewing rectangular glass with conforming panels to the sides. The locking front door is glazed as is also the locking rear door. Above the front door and on 3 sides is a small Cavetto moulding atop a thin rippled moulding. Below the door and also to 3 sides is a cushion shaped moulding over a short plinth with top moulding. The case is mounted upon 4 squashed bun feet.

Dimensions: 9 1/2" high x 6 1/4" wide x 5" deep.

Condition: The movement is in working order and keeping to time but would benefit from an overhaul. The pendulum locking knob is a replacement but of the correct size and style. The dial and hands are good but with slight staining. The case is good and both locks are original and working with a single key.

Price: The price is for the clock in its present and working condition. A price and timescale for any work required by the purchaser can be advised upon enquiry.
