We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Japanese export porcelain floor vases, particularly those produced during the Meiji period (18681912), are recognized by their substantial proportions, intricate hand-painted enamelling, and rich decorative schemes. Works frequently display figurative scenes, native flora, and gilding over crackle glazes or white porcelain bodies.

These vessels were crafted using kaolin clay bodies formed on potters wheels or in sections for larger scales. Decoration was achieved using overglaze polychrome enamels, mineral pigments, iron-red glazes, and painted liquid gold leaf details applied before final firing.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-painting through slight asymmetrical details, brushwork variance, and depth of enamel texture. Stamped or hand-painted potter signatures in iron-red or gilt on the base, along with gentle wear patterns on unglazed foot rims, indicate historical production.

Large ceramic vases work well when positioned as architectural anchors in foyers, empty room corners, or alongside mantelpieces. Their distinct colour palettes and vertical scale provide contrast when placed against neutral wall treatments or minimalist contemporary furnishings.

Maintain porcelain vessels by dusting regularly with a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush or microfiber cloth. Avoid applying water or chemical cleaners over hand-painted enamels and gilded surfaces, as moisture can compromise delicate overglaze details.
