Champlevé Enamel Mantel Clock

Description

A charming enamel and brass mantel clock with champlevé enamel decoration, corinthian columns and foliate finials to the case, housing an eight day movement with original platform escapement striking on a gong. The silvered dial is framed by a gilded and frosted gilded mask, with roman numerals and blued steel hands. Dating from circa 1880 the enamel design and ogee dome reflect the late nineteenth century interest Islamic design and early influence of the aesthetic movement, the enamel is in perfect condition.
