Rosewood Bracket Clock With Its Original Wall Bracket By William Coxhead Of Reading. Circa 1845.

This is a very attractive and original example of a true Bracket clock.
 
The eight day duration, 5 knopped pillared, double fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement, rack striking the hours and halfs on a rear-mounted bell. Also having shouldered plates, pendulum transit bracket, strike/silent, pull-repeating the hours and micrometer pendulum regulation.
 
Behind an 8'' diameter, bowed, painted iron dial with original paintwork and black inked outer minute track and Roman hour numerals also, the maker''s name of ''Wm. COXHEAD, MARKET PLACE, READING'' in curved script above and below the dial centre. The ringed, arrowhead matching hands are particularly well executed and all behind a cast brass locking bezel with bowed glass.
 
Contained in a Rosewood veneered case with brass inlay to the front. The Arabian style pagoda pediment has a cast brass ball-and-cup finial and it has a flat boarded top which is copied to the edge tops to the Cavetto neck. The pediment sits upon ribbed m...
