Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These decorative footed bowls date from around 1900 in the Bohemian style, manufactured from green glass accented with gold leaf. The two matching pieces display a vibrant emerald green ground complemented by metallic gold panelled trims around the upper and lower borders, alongside central friezes depicting intricate scrollwork and grapevine motifs. Each bowl stands upon a rounded footed base and exhibits light surface wear and rubbing to the gilded finish from age. The scale measures 12 cm high, 32 cm wide, and 23 cm deep, providing substantial presence for display. In a contemporary home, this pair suits placement on a dining room sideboard, a living room console table, or a display cabinet. They function well as decorative display objects, holding small ornaments, or serving dry items during formal gatherings, adding traditional visual interest and metallic warmth to traditional or eclectic interiors.

FAQs

Bohemian glass, originating from the historic regions of Bohemia and Silesia, is globally recognised for high-quality craftsmanship, rich jewel-toned glass, and intricate hand-applied gilding or cutting techniques.

Artisans created these vessels using hand-blown glass infused with metallic oxides for colour, subsequently applying gold foil or liquid gold paint that was fired in a kiln to permanently fuse to the surface.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-blown characteristics such as polished pontil marks, minor variations in hand-painted motifs, age-appropriate surface wear to the base, and significant physical density.

These decorative glass pieces can be displayed on a sideboard top, arranged on a mantelpiece, or positioned on a console table to introduce rich colour and warm metallic detail into a contemporary room.

Gilded glass should be cleaned by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding prolonged soaking, hot water, or abrasive sponges that could scratch or lift the delicate gold gilding.
