Behind a 14" diameter, flat, one-piece painted mahogany dial that is formed from the bezel surround. The original, crazed off-white background paint has an outer minute ring with hourly triangles encompassing black Roman numerals and the upper and lower centre bears the maker's signature "Tho(ma)s Harrison (of) LONDON" in ornate script. The well executed blued steel hands have tapered shanks and inverted heart ends. The Sheraton style, cast brass bezel is glazed, hinged and locking and fits exceptionally well.

Contained in a fine mahogany 'drop-dial' case that has a very finely turned bezel surround, Mudge & Dutton style integral front 'ears', an ebonised strip moulding around the base of the well figured trunk, a full-width scrolled and locking door to the chamfered base and access doors to both sides.

The condition of this clock is superb even though it looks its age, no warping, twisting, cracking or shrinkage can be seen in particular, to the dial and surround - this indicates that it was made from the finest, most perfectly seasoned and tightest grained mahogany available. The numerals may have been touched in but the base paint to the dial is untouched and in wonderful condition. Also, the cast brass bezel fits so well that it can only be the original. This is a fine clock of good size and proportions and would enhance any collection.
