An English Rococo Style Mantel Clock With Fusee Movement And An Ormolu Case, By John Peterkin. Circa 1820

This is a small and attractive Regency period mantel timepiece in excellent condition.
 
The eight day duration, single chain fusee circular movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and the backplate signed ''John Peterkin, London''. Having a pendulum holdfast knob and the pendulum having micrometer regulation and a thick, lozenge shaped brass bob.
 
Behind a 2 3/4'' diameter gilded dial with applied black Roman numerals, minute divisions, an engine turned centre, finely cast ornate bezel and ''open moon'' steel hands.
 
Contained in a good, cast brass Rococo style case of small size with it''s original mercurial, highlighted matt ''fire gilding''. The classical floral Rococo shape with a flowing finial to the top, curved acanthus leaves following the edges, decorated sides with floral and lattice design, acanthus dial surround and four scrolled feet. In turn, fixed to a pleasing matching and splayed base which is further, stood upon a rectangular moulded, water gilded wooden base....
