A Victorian English Fusee Dial Clock With A Striking Movement. Retailed By H.G. Hall Of Wimborne. Circa 1890

This is a very original and pretty, striking wall clock in a lovely mahogany case.
 
The massive double chain fusee, five pillar movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and rack striking the hours on a top mounted, first quality, tuned, ''bell-metal'' bell.
 
Fixed to a 11 1/2'' flat painted iron dial with minute track, Roman numerals and the retailer''s name of ''H.G. HALL WIMBORNE''. Also having blackened steel ''spade'' hands and behind a locking, cast brass bezel with integral silvered sight ring and flat ground-in glass.
 
The pale mahogany case is of good colour and pleasing patination with a rounded top and bottom, the latter having a locking, cockbeaded door. The two side doors with metal sound frets unusually also have locks, this feature is extremely rare.
 
This is a very attractive clock and no larger than the usual size for a timepiece only. Henry George Hall is listed in the Wimborne Directory as being a Watchmaker and working jeweller from 1890 u...
