Georgian, Verge Escapement, Striking Bracket. Enamel Dial. Circa 1790

This is a superior quality break-arch bracket clock, in excellent condition throughout. It is displayed on a wall bracket.
 
The substantial, eight day duration, five knopped pillar, double fusee movement with it''s original Verge escapement and shaped back-cock apron. Also, rack striking on a well-tuned bell with having a pull repeating and a centre sweep calendar wheel.
 
Behind a seven inch diameter, bowed white enamel dial with black Arabic hour numerals, outer minute and five minute markings and small Arabic calendar numerals within the hours. The lace-like fretted and matching hands are of blued steel with a third, straight, calendar sweep indicator.
 
Behind a finely cast, brass hinged bezel with ground-in bowed glass and contained in a break-arch ebonised case of good construction.
