Also, rack striking on a well-tuned bell with having a pull repeating and a centre sweep calendar wheel.
Behind a seven inch diameter, bowed white enamel dial with black Arabic hour numerals, outer minute and five minute markings and small Arabic calendar numerals within the hours. The lace-like fretted and matching hands are of blued steel with a third, straight, calendar sweep indicator.
Behind a finely cast, brass hinged bezel with ground-in bowed glass and contained in a break-arch ebonised case of good construction. The top having a single raised pad with curved brass framing and the leading edges having a well executed, 'return' moulding to all sides. The dial is between a top curved and two lower mirror-image, red silk backed, fish-scale sound frets and the front sides bear full-length rounded brass edging. The sides of the case have arched-top, conforming sound frets and are set below the pair of substantial and ornate, swinging brass carrying handles. The rear locking door is set with an arched top glass viewing panel and the four-sided moulded plinth is set upon four cast brass squashed, bun-and-plate feet.
The proportions of this attractive table clock are more aesthetically pleasing than is usual, the construction is of superior quality and the case is shallow in depth perhaps to allow it to be placed on a mantel piece. The dial being English enamel is also superior as is the substantial movement and all of the case castings. The tone of the bell is exceptional and can be easily heard because of the size and number of the sound frets.
We now have this clock displayed on a wall mounted bracket, this adds a new dimension and offers more versatility. The bracket can be purchased with the clock for an additional cost.
This item is in excellent condition, recently restored to a high standard and working very well.
The purchased item can be collected at a time mutually agreed. Alternatively, delivery can be arranged, for which a quotation can be supplied.
