17th Century English Lantern Clock By Benjamin Brockhurst Of Coventry circa 1690

This is an extremely original Midlands made Chamber clock in full working condition.
 
The thirty hour duration two train, chain driven movement with a very small crown wheel, verge escape, centre-swinging internal ''between the trains'' pendulum with ''Anchor'' bob. Also having countwheel striking the hours to the substantially loud bell. The anchor flukes pleasingly protrude through the side doors as the pendulum swings
 
The dial plate has symmetrical floral fronded engraving and the upper area to the centre bears the maker''s name ''Ben (jamin) Brockhurst, Coventry. The bold chapter ring has tall Roman hour numerals, 1/2 hour Fleur-de-Lys markings and an inner divided 1/4 ring. The single tailed steel hand is blackened. All three floral frets are engraved and the bell is fixed to an iron spider that is sprung within the corner finials. Both side doors have a high arched pendulum aperture and the iron backplate carries the wall ''stand off'' spikes.
