Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III brass candlesticks were produced in Britain between 1760 and 1820. They are characterized by turned baluster or knopped stems, heavy cast construction, and circular or square bases reflecting Neoclassical and Georgian stylistic influences.

Candlesticks from this period were typically cast in molten brass using two-part sand moulds. The cast components were then turned on a lathe, assembled, and hand-finished, often leaving visible joining seams or tool marks inside the hollow stem.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished details, uneven wear patterns, and evidence of historical casting techniques such as core-bar marks or seam lines inside the socket. They are generally weightier than modern reproductions and may show minor natural surface pitting.

Position them as a pair on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or dining table to add warm metallic highlights. Combining antique brass with contemporary ceramics or muted linen linens creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and remove wax deposits using warm water and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can strip natural patina, opting instead for a mild brass polish applied sparingly if bright finish is desired.
