This pair of antique candlesticks dates from 1900 and displays a Georgian style with an English Country House design vibe. Fashioned from solid brass, the pieces possess a warm gold colour and a polished metallic finish that catches the light. Each candlestick comprises a flared top socket above a circular drip pan, supported by a slender turned baluster stem with distinct rings and bulbous sections, all rising from a stepped circular base. In terms of scale, the items stand 32 cm high, 12.5 cm wide, and 12.5 cm deep. These traditional accessories suit placement as a dining table centre, adding an understated decorative element to a surface in a reception room, dining room, or hallway when paired with lit taper candles.

Brass candlesticks became widely popular during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries due to advances in foundry casting, allowing for durable, reflective interior lighting.

They were traditionally cast in molten brass using two-part sand moulds, finished on a lathe, and assembled with threaded central rods or solder joints.

Authentic pieces often exhibit lathe turning marks, subtle asymmetries, seam lines from casting, and hand-cut threads on central fixing rods.

Style them as a symmetrical pair on a dining table, mantelpiece, or sideboard paired with neutral taper candles to add warm metallic tones.

Remove residual candle wax by immersing the base in warm water, and gently polish the surface using a soft cotton cloth and specialist metal cleaner.
