Art Deco design, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric symmetry, stylised motifs, and a combination of modern industrial materials with luxurious exotic woods like walnut and Macassar ebony.

These clocks typically feature intricate wood veneers such as burr walnut and Macassar applied to a solid secondary wood carcass, often housing mechanical pendulum movements with contrasting metal or chromatic dials.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct construction techniques, natural timber ageing, traditional French polish or shellac finishes, and mechanical movements stamped with maker marks consistent with the interwar period.

Hang the piece as a focal point against a neutral or darkly painted wall to highlight the rich wood grain and geometric silhouette, allowing it to function as both a practical timepiece and a sculptural wall hanging.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to prevent veneer cracking, dust the exterior gently with a dry microfibre cloth, and have the mechanical movement professionally serviced every few years.
