A superb Elizabeth I early 17th Century Oak Coffer of lovely colour in good original condition apart from the hinges which have been replaced. The rails and legs made from a combination of Elm and Oak. The front is heavily carved and highly decorated with checkered feather banding, bordered with a bog oak stringing.
The top rail having carved lunettes, the arcaded panel surround carved with strap work with geometric checkered inlay applied to the centre.
